Dear Partner, Customers and Friends,

Innovation in China is developing rapidly and China is becoming even more interesting to Denmark than ever before. As 2016 is coming to an end I especially find the developments within these 3 areas very interesting from a Danish innovation perspective:

The Chinese consumer driven market is growing very fast and provides a wealth of untapped business opportunities. Danish companies are increasingly contacting Innovation Centre Denmark in Shanghai in order to validate the attractiveness of their  value propositions, fine-tune the business model, identify the right partner strategy and getting access to funding for market acceleration in China.

In the last few years we have seen larger Danish Corporates changing their R&D strategy in China into creating Innovation Centres in China in order to develop attractive products and services tailor made to the Chinese market and  consumers. Recognizing the speed of innovation in China, the most advanced Danish companies are now extending their strategy into an open innovation approach, looking for tapping into key sources for disruptions and radical new business opportunities in the Chinese Innovation Ecosystem.

Finally, a bold prediction for years to come. China will change the Global way of how to innovate and China will take a position on the Center Stage. The unique characteristics of fast-to-market almost pretotyping approach to new product introduction and iterations, a huge and wealthy consumer base curious to uptake new versions of products and services, a legal system accepting failures and a opportunistic an entrepreneurial population is a mix that will drive Global way of innovation.

I wish all our partners, customers and friends a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year,

                                                                                                           Yours sincerely,
Morten Brandtoft, Executive Director, ICDK Shanghai
